On the 14th day of each lunar month, Hoi An turns off all electric lights and illuminates thousands of colorful lanterns. Visitors release floating candles on the Hoai River, creating Vietnam's most romantic experience — found nowhere else in the world.
The Lantern Festival — Hoi An's Living Heritage
This centuries-old tradition is tied to prayers for peace and prosperity. All electricity in the old town is switched off, leaving only candlelight and colorful lanterns. Visitors can buy paper lanterns (10,000-20,000 VND) and floating candles (5,000-10,000 VND) to release on the river with a wish.

Beyond Full Moon — Beautiful Every Night
Even on regular evenings, Hoi An glows with lanterns. Take a boat on the Thu Bon River, join a lantern-making workshop (100,000-200,000 VND, 1 hour), or simply stroll and photograph — every corner is a masterpiece.
