Ly Son Island: Central Vietnam's Volcanic Island Paradise

10 min 12302

Ly Son — a volcanic island 25km off Quang Ngai's coast — is dubbed "Vietnam's Maldives" for its crystal waters and unique volcanic geology. A UNESCO Global Geopark with million-year-old lava cliffs and pristine coral reefs.

To Vo Gate — Ly Son's Icon

A natural lava-rock arch on the shore — Ly Son's tourism symbol. At sunset, light streaming through creates a magical golden arch. Thoi Loi Peak (149m) — an ancient crater filled with terraced garlic fields inside the caldera.

Be Island — Hidden Gem

Be Island (An Binh) is 5 minutes by speedboat — coral reefs so shallow you can see them from shore. Water shifts through rainbow colors with the sunlight. Snorkeling right off the beach reveals stunning coral and tropical fish.

Getting There from Da Nang

Car Da Nang → Sa Ky port (3.5 hours) then speedboat (1 hour, 160,000 VND). 2-3 day trips ideal. Rent a motorbike on the island (100,000-150,000 VND/day) — a full circuit takes just 2 hours.

💡 Mẹo: Best season: March-September (calm seas). Garlic season (Dec-March) has beautiful green fields but rougher waves.
